Robert Bateman "The Air, the Forest, and the Watch"

"The Air, the Forest, and the Watch"The bald eagle is one of my favorite birds to paint, primarily because of its appearance.  From an abstract point of view, its shapes and contrasts are very exciting.  The expression of the face is strong and even somewhat primitive - it genuinely has the feel of the wild. The Air, the Forest, and the Watch was painted as a celebration of Earth Day.  My subjects, the atmosphere, the trees and the bald eagle, were chosen as symbols of issues that require our commitment to the preservation of our planet.  As the eagle served to alert us of the damage we were doing, in this painting it represents the watch - our duty as guardians of our planet. - Robert Bateman About Robert Bateman (From COA) Born in Toronto, Robert Bateman was a keen artist and naturalist from his early days. Bateman painted wildlife and wilderness in a representational style until his teens when he began to interpret nature using a variety of contemporary styles including post-impressionism and abstract expressionism. In the early 60s, Bateman rediscovered realism and began to develop the style that would make him one of the foremost artists depicting the world of nature. In the 70s and early 80s, Bateman's work began to receive critical acclaim and to attract an enormous following. Since his first one-man show in 1967, Bateman has had numerous sell-out exhibitions in Canada, the United States and Great Britain. His work is in many public and private collections, including several art museums. He was commissioned by the Governor General of Canada to do a painting as the wedding gift for HRH The Prince Charles from the people of Canada. His work is also included in the collections HRH The Prince Philip, the late Princess Grace of Monaco and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands. Bateman has had many one-man museum shows throughout North America, including an exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.; most of these shows have drawn record-breaking crowds. His honors, awards and honorary doctorates are numerous, he was made Officer of the Order of Canada, our country's highest civilian award. He has also been the subject of three films. Two books of his art, "The Art of Robert Bateman" and "The World of Robert Bateman", have made publishing history; they have sold more that half a million copies.  Please Note This print is an artist signed limited edition numbered 15,876 of 42,558.  This print was removed from a frame to facilitate easier shipping.  It comes with the mat pictured and is frame ready. The outer mat dimensions are approixately 29" x 40".  As you can see in the pictures, two small pieces of framing tape were used to hold this print in place on the mat.

Eva's Hallmark has been in business for over 20 years now.  We are a large collectibles retailer specializing in M.I. Hummel, Swarovski crystal, Walt Disney Collector's Classics, Lenox, Precious Moments, and many more. Because of our large collector base, we have been continually asked about how the secondary market (eBay in particular) works and how someone would go about selling their items.  We now occasionally help some of our larger collectors to sell their "high-end" collections via eBay.  The item you are bidding on here is an item that belongs to one such collector and is part of a much larger collection.  We will post weekly auctions of this collection for sale until it is gone.
