You are looking at one of the most unique and beautiful species of woods in the world! Purpleheart has been called Amaranth, Violetwood, Tananeo and Saka depending on what country you are visiting. Found in Central and South America, this exotic wood is a worldwide favorite. Tall and large trees grow abundantly, sometimes reaching a diameter of five feet with clear, knot-free logs (long lengths are typical of this species). it is very resistant to attack by fungi and dry-wood termites. This auction is for Unfinished Purpleheart flooring that consists of planks that are 5" wide 3/4" thick, square edged, and the planks come in random lengths of 1-13' with an average length of 6'. This long-length exotic floor would make a unique and beautiful addition to anyone's home or office, especially if your tastes can be described as eclectic. This product is a rare species from South America. Purpleheart wood when freshly cut from the tree tends to run a mousy-gray color, and over a period of a few months (much like Brazilian Cherry), the floor oxidized and becomes the deep, rich purple color that people adore. Many installers coat the floor with a thin sheen of Armorall (yes, Armorall) before applying the finish, so that the floor retains it's beautiful purple coloration without "browining out" in time. You will absolutely love the unique coloration and vibrant tones of this product in your game room or lounge area. Purple pigments were reserved for only the very wealthy and important members of society from ancient times because of the difficulty of producing such a beautiful color. This is nature's result of producting a vivid pigment out of a tiny little seed, some clear water and dark brown soil. Be the talk of your town with the coolest looking floor that money can buy! Get it while it's HOT!
