"Calling the Buffalo"To the Plains Indians, the buffalo meant survival - food, shelter, and clothing.  The buffalo, being a migratory animal, was constantly on the move, searching for forage and water.  To hunt the heard in enemy territory meant danger as well as a long haul back to camp with the meat and hides. In "Calling the Buffalo" a medicine man of the Sioux has been chosen by his tribe to call the buffalo.  His chants and prayers, aided by the powerful magic of a buffalo skull, are meant to entice the herds into his tribe's territory.  He casts all of his spiritual power into his call.  Will the buffalo need his summons?- Bev DoolittleAbout Bev Doolitle (From COA)  Bev Doolittle’s subject matter is provided by the out-of-doors.  “I love nature,” she says.  “I try to look beyond the obvious and create unique, meaningful paintings that depict our Western wilderness and its inhabitants.  I start with a concept and then attempt to convey it through strong design coupled with detailed realism.  I want people to think when they look at my paintings.” Bev Doolittle was born and grew up in California.  In 1968, she graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles.  She met her husband, Jay, at school, and they started married life with a painting trip to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks – a portent of things to come.  For the next five years, however, the Doolittles were engaged in advertising art and TV production in Los Angeles. “It paid well, but after awhile I wasn’t learning,” Bev explains, “and we didn’t like living in the city.  We wanted to be close to nature, and we wanted to travel.”  They have now accomplished both; their frequent travels and backpacking trips have covered the western United States, Canada, Baja, California, and East Africa, and they now live close to nature in California. Please Note This is an artist signed limited edition numbered 6803 of 8500.  The dimensions of the frame around this print are approximately 25" x 44".  This print has been framed with quality preservation in mind by an authorized Greenwich Workshop Dealer.

Eva's Hallmark has been in business for over 20 years now.  We are a large collectibles retailer specializing in M.I. Hummel, Swarovski crystal, Walt Disney Collector's Classics, Lenox, Precious Moments, and many more. Because of our large collector base, we have been continually asked about how the secondary market (eBay in particular) works and how someone would go about selling their items.  We now occasionally help some of our larger collectors to sell their "high-end" collections via eBay.  The item you are bidding on here is an item that belongs to one such collector and is part of a much larger collection.  We will post weekly auctions of this collection for sale until it is gone.
